Xi’an Jiaotong University (China)XJTU wins honors in top physics competition

Five teams from Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) garnered top awards at the final of the seventh China Undergraduate Physics Experiment Competition recently held in Nanchang, Jiangxi province.

The university won two first prizes, two second prizes, one third prize and the title “Excellent Organization Unit” of the event.

The university highly valued the CUPEC and made good preparations including organizing training classes and rehearsals, which powered the success of its teams and reflected its education system of applying practical teaching and encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship.

CUPEC is one of the most challenging and influential physics competitions in China. It is the only physics competition to be accepted into the list of the national college student competitions last year.

This year, it attracted 1,587 teams from more than400 colleges and universities across the country. A total of 180 first prizes were awarded by a review committee consisting of 900 experts.

Putting highlights on the connotation of physics, the deep integration of science and engineering, and comprehensive enhancement on the innovative ability of college students, the competition coincided with the university goals, and furthermore, guided the overall reform on content and teaching methods when giving a physics experiment lesson in today’s era of bigdata, 5G technology and the fourth industrial revolution.

Considering the achievements in education and talent training, XJTU will host next year’s competition. The university will continue to explore the experimental and practical teaching methods and boost the education system of practical teaching as well as innovation and entrepreneurship with its own characteristics.
