Germany (University of Tübingen) New Master’s in Population Health

Tübingen’s Faculty of Medicine offers international degree program: Population-Based Medicine researches what keeps a society healthy and develops strategies for prevention and intervention.

Starting summer semester 2023, the University of Tübingen is offering an international Master of Science degree in Population-Based Medicine (PBM). Over four semesters, the degree program will train future experts to address the health issues societies face. The program is offered entirely in English and therefore equally suitable for German and international students. A mandatory internship in the third semester can take place in Germany or abroad.

Using an interdisciplinary approach, students will examine factors that can affect population health ‒ from individual behavior through environmental influences, social and cultural aspects to political and economic correlations. There is a strong focus on learning to handle large medical data sets, statistical and epidemiological methods. Each student will be guided and advised by a personal mentor throughout their studies.

Graduates will be able to develop preventive strategies, appropriate intervention measures and policy recommendations. The degree will enable them to work in various areas of the health sector such as health authorities, hospitals or consultancies, as well as in research, politics or commercial enterprises.

Prospective students can apply from mid-December to January 15, 2023. A six-semester Bachelor in health sciences or equivalent qualification in a similar subject is necessary to take the Master’s. There will be an online information event on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, 5pm. To register, please write to pbm.studium@med.uni-tuebingen.de.
