UK (Edinburgh Napier University) Mature student transformed by MBA studies

Allison’s studies at Edinburgh Napier’s Business School have brought her on both a literal and a metaphorical journey. Travelling from her home in the small Caribbean territory of the Cayman Islands, Allison has swapped golden beaches and blue skies for the hallowed and historic surroundings of Edinburgh to collect her MBA in Leadership & Innovation – having began her Global Online studies in 2019.

As a Learning & Development professional with an accomplished career behind her, Allison chose the course to complement her existing knowledge and experience. Completing her MBA from her home country allowed Alison to explore what it means to be an inspirational leader, and her thesis focussed on transferring this knowledge to the context of the Cayman Islands.Allison Lovinggood poses with her Business MBA, after travelling to graduation from the Cayman Islands

Allison said: “The modules that I took for this programme have equipped me to be the best transformational leader possible, by supporting my team and leading with trust”.

While Allison is full of praise for the interesting academic nature of the course and the expertise of her tutors, her experience at Edinburgh Napier was transformative in a personal sense too. After experiencing horrific bullying in a previous job position which drove her to feel suicidal, Allison credits her MBA course with helping to rebuild her lost confidence and reform her life.

Having recently celebrated her milestone fiftieth birthday, Allison is excited to embark on the next chapter, with a new job role already in the offing. Allison particularly commends Dr. Wylde and Dr. Brodie, tutors on her very first module on the course, as well as her husband, mother, and best friend for their support during her ENU journey.

She added: “It is a very proud moment for me as this MBA journey has literally saved my life”.
