Argentina (Technological Institute of Buenos Aires) A New Edition Begins
In its fifth consecutive year, the 100K LATAM maintains its commitment to identify and promote the best startups in Latin America and the Caribbean. The launch event will be on May 10 in the city of Buenos Aires.
The ITBA , with the support of the MIT Sloan Latin America Office , presents a new edition of the 100K LATAM contest, designed to promote the development of startups with the capacity to generate impact in the region.
The launch event will be held in person on May 10, at 11:00 a.m., at the Marriot Hotel (Carlos Pellegrini 551) in the city of Buenos Aires, and will be broadcast via streaming through the official website.
The event will have as an additional novelty the participation as special guests of the winners of the 2021 edition of the 100K LATAM , with whom the public -both present in the room and those who attend via streaming- will be able to have a question session. They are Photio , from Chile, first place in the Launch category; Microciclo Biotecnología , from Brazil, winners of the Accelerate category, and Present Chemistry, Argentina, won the award in the Pitch category.
The competition will award more than US$100,000 in prizes distributed among the winners of each category. Registration will be open from May 10 to June 10 and people and teams from any country in Latin America and the Caribbean can participate.
As in the four previous editions, the 100K LATAM will have three categories depending on the maturity of the idea: Pitch, Accelerate and Launch. The projects will be evaluated by a jury made up of industry specialists, leaders in the entrepreneurial universe, and academics who will assess the development of innovative, technology-based or knowledge-based ventures.
Regarding the competition , Sebastián Mur, Dean of the ITBA School of Innovation and President of the Evaluation Committee of the 100K LATAM , expressed: “ Each new edition of the contest surprises us with ideas and projects based on solid value propositions, with a degree of innovation and knowledge of the target market. We are convinced that the 100K LATAM renews the development impulse year after year for the winners and all the participants”.
Categories
Pitch : The purpose of this category is to support ideas or enterprises in the initial phase of development. Deliver US$5,000 to the first prize and US$1,000 to each of the finalist teams
Accelerate: It seeks to support enterprises with a higher degree of development or first sales. The first prize will receive US$20,000 and the finalist teams: US$2,000 (each).
Launch: This category seeks to support ventures with a higher degree of development. The first prize will receive US$55,000 and the finalists: US$5,000 (each).
All instances of the competition will be widely publicized in the region thanks to the outreach partners, strategic partners in Latin America and the Caribbean, the sponsors and the support of the sponsors.
