Japan (Osaka University) Title of Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow awarded to Professor IDEMARU Kaori
On Thursday, November 10, 2022, the title awarding ceremony for the Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow took place at the university, where Professor IDEMARU Kaori of the University of Oregon (USA) received the certificate of the title from Executive Vice President KAWAHARA Genta in charge of Global Engagement.
The title of Global Alumni Fellow is conferred to OU alumni who are active overseas in order to build an international network.
Following her graduation from Osaka University of Foreign Studies, Prof. Idemaru received her master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa (USA), after which she received her PhD in Japanese Linguistics at the University of Oregon.
She served as director and vice chairperson of the Osaka University North American Alumni Association and also served as a contact person for the University of Oregon at the time of the conclusion of the exchange agreement with Osaka University.
The ceremony was attended by individuals including a contact person for this ceremony, Scott North, regional director of the Osaka University North American Center for Academic Initiatives.
At the meeting following the ceremony, attendees exchanged opinions on education in the US and Japan and how to conduct interactive classes, discussing the further strengthening of collaboration between the two universities.
