Kenya (Jomo Kenyatta University Of Agric. & Technology) JKUAT Graduate Emerges Top at BORAQS Examinations

Arch. Adeline Okwaro, a Bachelor of Architecture graduate from the School of Architecture and Building Sciences (SABS), emerged the top in the 2021 professional examinations conducted by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (BORAQS).

Arch. Okwaro was crowned the best during the recently held CPD seminar organized by BORAQS on 16th and 17th November, 2022. She was supervised by Arch. Stephen Lutta, also an alumnus of the Department of Architecture.

Graduate architects are required to undertake and pass the professional examinations in order to obtain a practice license by the Board. The Board is mandated is to regulate the professions of Architecture and Quantity Surveying through training, registration and enhancement of ethical practice.

“This award is a great honor and validation of the six years I spent in JKUAT and subsequent years of training towards being a registered professional. It is only through hard work and sacrifice that it came to be. Preparing for the exams was challenging, having to carefully balance work, family, and studying,” said Arch. Okwaro.

The Chairman of Architecture Department, Arch. Nadi Hashim, attributed the remarkable achievement to the rigorous training offered by the university. Noting that all the academic staff at the department are registered architects by the board, he commended them for their dedication in preparing the students, and challenged the students to maintain the good performance, both in class and in professional practice.
