IsDB Group Organizes Evaluation Symposium on the Role of Evaluation in Accelerating Recovery Post Pandemic

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Operations Evaluation Department (OED) organized, in close cooperation with the evaluation functions of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), the 2022 IsDB Group Evaluation Symposium under the theme “Evaluation Through the Lens of Recovery” from 29 to 30 March, virtually, and in-person on March 31st at the Tent Hall, in IsDB headquarters.

The main objectives of the symposium are to shed light on promoting evaluative thinking to enhance development interventions and decision-making processes, and more notably to leverage partnerships in order to accelerate recovery in the context of the post global pandemic.

Furthermore, the symposium brings together evaluation practitioners from Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), peer development institutions, academia, and centers of excellence to strengthen and reshape evaluation work and to chart a roadmap that facilitates progress towards sustainable recovery from the global pandemic and realignment with the SDGs.

H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the IsDB Group, stated during his address: “The evaluation role has been instrumental in tackling the COVID-19 and re-aligning IsDB’s strategy to make it relevant in the post-COVID era.” He added that “the pandemic has underlined the need to forge partnerships and raised the urgency for collaboration through constant communication and transparency towards win-win outcomes, focusing on problem-solving and adopting innovative solutions.”

The event was attended by a wide audience from the IsDB Group staff and participation from evaluation practitioners from the international development sphere.
