Egypt (Fayoum University) Prof. Hatata Receives a Report on the Establishment of a Renewable Energy Station Powered by Solar Panels and a Meteorological Station for Research and Scientific Purposes

Prof. Yasser Hatata, President of Fayoum University, received a report submitted by Prof. Arafa Sabry, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, on the design and construction of a renewable energy station powered by solar panels and a meteorological station for research and scientific purposes.

The report stated that a research team from Faculty of Engineering, Fayoum University, under the supervision of Prof. Sherif Al-Attar, Dean of the Faculty, designed and built a renewable energy station powered by solar panels and a meteorological station for research and scientific purposes, and they were established on top of the Norias Hotel of Fayoum University on the shores of Qaroun Lake.

The report indicated that the research project was funded by the Science and Technology Development Fund in cooperation with the British Council, entitled “Optimal Design of Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems for Tourism Facilities in Fayoum Governorate.”

The report noted that the project is in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030, which aims to achieve sustainable development in various sectors of the state and spread cultural awareness on the issue of renewable energy in the tourism sector, which is one of the most important sources of national income for Egypt. The project also targets the idea of green tourism that is environmentally friendly, by relying on renewable energy sources that do not pollute the environment, which help reduce carbon emissions in the tourism sector and limit climate change.

The research team of the project includes Dr. Suzan Abdel-Hady, the principal researcher for the project, Dr. Ahmed Shaaban, the deputy principal researcher, and research assistant members from the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the college.
