Eswatini (University of Eswatini) UNESWA’s Consultancy and Training Centre conducted Public Procurement Training in Partnership with Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Agency
MATSAPHA: The University of Eswatini’s Consultancy and Training Centre (CTC), in partnership with the Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (ESPPRA), successfully conducted a three-day training on “Conducting Procurement in Line with Public Procurement Legislation” to 39 students. The training which was held from 21 to 23 June 2023 at Esibayeni Lodge focused on equipping participants with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively conduct procurement for their organizations in line with the public procurement legal framework. On Friday 23 June 2023 at Esibayeni Lodge, a Graduation Ceremony was held and was officiated by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Eswatini, Professor Justice Thwala.
In his speech, the Vice Chancellor informed the graduates that life-long learning was essential for productivity in organisations. The two institutions, CTC and ESPPRA had held ten workshops on the subject and the collaboration was yielding fruits. He also informed the gathering that the University Council amended the Buildings and Tender Board to make it compliant with the provisions of the ESPPPRA legislation. He congratulated the participants of the training, ESPPPRA and CTC for a job well done.
Speaking on behalf of the participants was Ms Thoko Dlamini. “It was humbling to see how the training was so serious and it was an eye opener.” She mentioned that some of the participants were not procurement specialists but work hand-in-hand with procurement departments. She then assured the CEO of ESPPPRA and the University that from the team that attended the training, they will see great improvement in their work. She expressed that further trainings will be made available to them.
In his closing remarks, the Registrar, Dr Salebona Simelane he noted that the training could not have come at a better time as there are calls for adherence to legislations and policies everywhere. He thanked the CTC staff for always mounting trainings to the benefit of the institution, client organisations and the individual participants. “I would like to pass a vote of thanks to ESPPPRA for partnering with UNESWA in making this training possible. We look forward to many similar partnerships. It is friendly organisations like yours that put our business on the map. As many times our name is mentioned and resonates with admirers in public circles, few people will associate with UNESWA with all the ills that taint our image. We are the University of Choice in Africa! Thank you for making the University of Eswatini proud on a day when it is no longer rosy for us out there,” he concluded.
