Cameroon (University of Buea) UB & MUST sign Partnership Agreement

FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES
Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the University of Buea (Faculty of Health Sciences) and Mbarara University of Science Technology (MUST), Professor Obua Celestino, Vice-Chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology and an 8-man delegation are at the University of Buea for a Staff Exchange Visit.
The objective of the exchange programme are:
– to establish an official in-person contact between top officials of both institutions;
– to provide opportunities for students and staff for learning and exchange on ongoing research projects;
– to consolidate and finalize the joint research projects initiated during the first exchange visit.
Professor Obua and his team arrived Buea on Sunday, 2 July and will be in Buea until Saturday, 15 July 2023, during which they will work with the Faculty of Health Sciences to exchange ideas, share knowledge and skill to build capacity in the drug development process. They will also conduct Clinical Examination (long essay) of Level 600 Medical Students, discuss projects initiated during the visit and conduct Masters Thesis Defences in Pharmacology and Toxicology.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buea, Professor Ngomo Horace Manga, welcomed the visiting delegation in a ceremony attended by Principal Officers of the University as well as Staff and students of the Faculty of Health Sciences. He promised MUST that “UB will fulfill its own part of the Agreement”.
During the welcome ceremony, Professor Obua Celestino took time to explain the importance of this partnership “…and the need for our institutions to develop our own capacities especially in phytomedicines…”
