Tarbiat Modares University (Iran) TMU faculty member won “Professor Fereshteh Motamedi” scientific award

Dr. Mohammad Hosseinpour Gholami, professor of the Physiology department, Medical Sciences faculty, received the most valuable award of the 25th National Congress and the 4th international congress of Physiology and Pharmacology, namely the “Professor Fereshteh Motamedi” award (October 2021).

This award is presented every two years to two of the country’s most prominent physiologists and pharmacologists professors who have accomplished valuable activities in this field of science and are among the most influential experts in this area.

Professor Fereshteh Motamedi was born in Tehran, Iran in 1944. She received her Ph.D. degree in Physiology from the University of Columbia-Missouri, USA in 1978.  After her graduation she joined the department of Physiology, Medicine faculty, Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, and became a full professor and the head of the department since 1988. Her research interest is in various areas of neuroscience such as physiology and pharmacology of basal ganglia, sleep, pain, and learning and memory. Prof. Motamedi has served in the council of FAOPS from the early stage of its establishment and plays a key role in fund raising activities. She is also a member of FAONS Council.
