Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (Slovakia) An international scientific conference, the third joint eu cohesion policy conference

On November 14-16, 2022, an international scientific conference, the Third Joint EU Cohesion Policy Conference, was held in Zagreb under the auspices of the European Commission to evaluate the challenges and opportunities for cohesion policy in the coming periods.

 

 

At the invitation of the General Directorate for Regional and Urban Policy invitation, the conference was also attended by Ing. Martin Mariš, PhD., currently working as an assistant professor at the Institute of Regional Studies and Rural Development, FEŠRR SPU in Nitra.

Conference participants assessed the critical evidence and focus of policy towards cities and regions in the EU through the most proven procedures in implementing and adapting strategic priorities and financial capacities within the 2021-2027 program period. The goal is to achieve an effective solution to development needs and opportunities with the support of synergies with other EU instruments. This event became an integral part of the ongoing discussion, which began with the publication of the 8th Cohesion Report. The conference took place in a hybrid format with more than 200 representatives of the academic sector, European institutions, and governmental organizations at the level of EU member states.

At the conference, Ing. Martin Mariš, PhD., presented an international study focusing on “Results and outputs of the implementation of the Cohesion Policy on the example of the V4 countries.” According to the participants, the conference fulfilled their expectations, and the representatives of the participating organizations expressed their determination to continue and bring better and more effective policy results for increasing the well-being of their citizens.
