Shanghai University (China) Uruguayan Ambassador Fernando Lugris visits SHU

On Nov. 8, CHENG Danhong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai University (SHU), met with a delegation led by Uruguayan Ambassador to China Fernando Lugris in the Lehu New Building.

Secretary CHENG extended his warm welcome to the delegation and expressed his sincere thanks to universities and think tanks in Uruguay for their support in personnel exchanges and joint research. Lugris thanks SHU for its efforts in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic and its care for the physical and mental health of international students. He also conveyed greetings from the presidents of the Catholic University of Uruguay and Universidad ORT Uruguay, to the teachers and students of SHU. Both universities have their own strengths in economics, trade, humanities, and information technology. They are looking forward to exchange visits after the pandemic and to reaching consensus and strengthening collaborations on such aspects as international exchanges and training of faculty and students.

SHU has carried out research on global issues since 2011, areas of which include Latin America. The University of the Republic and the Catholic University of Uruguay have always had communication and collaboration with SHU since 2012, such as joint doctoral programs, and co-organizing a number of academic conferences and summer schools on Latin American research, all of which helps to train versatile professionals with a global outlook.
