Yangzhou University is located in Yangzhou, one of the first batch of famous historical and cultural cities in China. It is a University jointly built by the people's Government of Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of education, a key comprehensive university under Jiangsu Province, a class a construction University of Jiangsu high-level university construction peak plan, the first batch of doctoral and master's degree awarding units in China, and the first university in China to carry out merger. The predecessor of the school is TongZhou normal school and Tonghai agricultural school founded by Mr. Zhang Jian, a famous modern industrialist and educator in 1902. When the national colleges and departments were adjusted in 1952, their agricultural courses and the special courses of literature and history entrusted by them moved west to Yangzhou to establish Northern Jiangsu Agricultural College and Northern Jiangsu normal college; The other four colleges and universities were also established in Yangzhou or moved to Yangzhou to run schools in the same period.
