UK (York St John University) The Good University Guide 2023 places York St John top in the North for teaching quality

York St John University has been named top university in the North for teaching quality by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023.

The Guide says: “Students at York St John report consistently positive reviews of their university in the National Student Survey. Our analysis of the latest results, published in summer 2022, ranks the University 13th in the UK for satisfaction with teaching quality (up 18 places) and joint 25th for the wider experience (up 20 places).”

The University has also risen four places in the overall rankings and is now in 79th position.

The Guide provides the definitive rankings for UK universities and the most comprehensive overview of higher education in Britain. It includes profiles on 135 universities and the definitive UK university rankings, making use of the latest data published in the past two months.

York St John’s best ever performance in the table has been boosted by strong results in this year’s National Student Survey (NSS) The NSS gave the University a score of 79.3% for overall satisfaction in this year’s student survey, well above the sector average. Reflecting this, the latest league table named York St John second in the region for student experience, just behind Leeds Trinity.

The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023 provides students and their parents and carers with an invaluable first reference point on the path to finding a university place. It contains full profiles of all universities.

The academic league table is made up of eight indicators including student satisfaction with teaching quality and their wider student experience, research quality, graduate prospects, entrance qualifications held by new students, degree results achieved, student/staff ratios, and degree completion rates.
