University of Stirling (UK) Stirling students draw Dundee United in Scottish Cup

University of Stirling student footballers have drawn Premiership side Dundee United in the Scottish Cup Fourth Round.

The Men’s First Team – who progressed in the national cup competition with a 1-0 extra time win at Albion Rovers at the weekend – will travel to Tannadice on the weekend of January 21/22.

It is a just reward for Chris Geddes’ side who have enjoyed a phenomenal season to date – currently sitting second in the Lowland League, just two points off leaders Rangers B, and topping the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Premier North Division.

The draw was an exciting moment for us all – and we are relishing the challenge of pitting ourselves against a Premiership side. This is a huge opportunity for the players and, for most, will be the highlight of their careers to date.

Reacting to the draw, Geddes, Head Coach of University of Stirling Football Club, said: “I am so proud of my players making the Fourth Round of the Scottish Cup; the performance against Albion Rovers was outstanding and we absolutely deserved the win.

Earlier this year, Geddes was named Scottish Student Sport Coach of the Year after leading the team to back-to-back titles in the British and Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Premier North Division. He was also shortlisted as Coach of the Year at the BUCS Awards.
