The USP Butantã campus will host, from the 1st to the 3rd of September 2022, the  16th edition of  the USP and Profissões Fair . The initiative of the Pro-Rectory of Culture and University Extension of USP (PRCEU) is aimed at high school students and preparatory courses for the entrance exam. Participation is completely free, but to speed up entry, those interested can register in advance on the website  uspprofissoes.usp.br .

After nine years of the last edition held on campus, the event returns to Cidade Universitária and offers students various possibilities, taking advantage of the proximity to teaching units, museums, laboratories and the environment that young people can find as a student, including activities taking place in several of these locations.

“The USP and Profissões Fair is a very important event because it involves all USP units and, mainly, because it brings the University very close to society. The dimension it has reached in recent years demonstrates this importance, especially since dialoguing with society is one of the pillars of our mission. During the fair, we have the opportunity to interact with tens of thousands of young people, as well as with their families, seeking to guide them in the best possible way to plan their future”, highlights professor Marli Quadros Leite, dean of Culture and Extension University of USP.

At Praça do Relógio, an architectural landmark and symbol of the University, the fair brings together stands with USP students and professors who present their careers and clarify doubts about the courses offered, the professions, the job market, academic training, subject grids, syllabus contents , university life and specializations.

Guidance will also be provided regarding ways to enter the University and programs and scholarships to encourage student retention. Professors will be informed about the extension courses offered by USP, many of which are free.

In addition to the main site, visitors can learn a little more about USP on the Giro Cultural tour, which will take a bus to various locations on campus.

Some activities will be carried out in a hybrid format, with live transmission on  the Youtube channel . For food, the 2022 edition will have a structure of food trucks . Special parking pockets will be allocated for bus accommodation.

The choice of profession

One of USP’s largest and most traditional events in the area of extension and relationship with society,  Feira USP e as Profissões  has been marked, for 20 years, by an intense participation of young people in search of their professional future.

The pro-rector comments that demand has grown even after two years in digital format.

“We had a surprising reach of this event even in digital format, with around 1 million accesses in the last editions. In the face-to-face format, demand reached around 70 thousand people in the three days of the event, showing the demand that exists for this type of information about careers and the possibilities for candidates to get vacancies here at USP. The fair is yet another strategy to democratize access to public and free universities, as it shows that everyone can and should have access to one of the best universities in the world”, emphasizes Marli.
