In his welcome remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Justice Thwala acknowledged the partnership. He mentioned that it had been a long journey. “We are pleased that finally it is all systems go!” The Council resolved that the project of the building of the classrooms should resume by officially engaging the consultants hence the signing of the contracts.

During the meeting, the Physical Planner, Mr. Philip Mamba displayed visuals of the proposed classrooms and described the building projects for the two campuses. The Kwaluseni project is a double story building, with three class rooms on the low level of equal size while the top level will have two classrooms. These classrooms will be located next to the Maintenance Department. It will complement the existing classrooms next to the Maintenance Department. The building will be paraplegic friendly – disabled people will have ease of access through the ramp.

Similarly, the Mbabane project will have eight class rooms, a computer lab, and an audio-visual room at the ground level. The audio-visual room will facilitate online teaching and learning. The floor above will have three big class rooms that will be permanently divided to limit disturbing noise from the next class room. The Physical Planner further announced to the panel that Manyatsi – Nhleko has offered to be Project Managers at no extra cost, and that the project is estimated at SZL 12.9 million, with consultancy fees included.

The partners then signed the contracts and were applauded.
