The Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science has a vibrant research community which attracts prestigious research funding and exciting PhD students. Recent major research funding awarded to the faculty includes British Heart FoundationUKRIHDRUKADRNMRC and Smart Expertise via Welsh Government.

The strength of the Faculty’s research community is in its people and in its ambition for excellence. By working collaboratively across the faculty’s research themes, our talented researchers are able to push boundaries in their fields and innovation within, and beyond, the research community.

We have over 25 years’ experience of driving forward research to improve health, well-being and wealth. We take insights from bedside to bench and back again, resulting in real world impact and better patient outcomes. The quality of our research has again been recognised in REF2021, with 85% of our faculty research being rated as world-leading or internationally excellent overall (REF2021).
