UK (Plymouth Marjon University) Marjon Stores launching soon
Plymouth Marjon University has been granted planning permission for a new campus shop, to better serve students and staff and to offer members of the local community another food retail option that could reduce car travel in the north of the city.
The new shop, which will be stocked with Co-op products, will be part of the University’s main campus, located to the right of the main reception. The shop will have a nearby post box and locker for convenient Amazon collections and returns.
The community store will stock everyday essentials, on-the-go food, chilled food and drinks, frozen items, vegan options, and alcohol, which can all be purchased at a standard or self-service checkout. The store will also feature hot foods and coffee to take away.
The move comes as part of the University’s 2030 carbon-zero aim for its campus and the wider community. Marjon is leaping towards this target with their 2,000 solar panels and ground source heat pump project being completed earlier this year.
The shop will be open 8 am to 10 pm, 7 days a week, and will be accessible to students, staff, and the community, with an aim to curtail the number of car journeys in the north of the city and encourage more members of the community to access and enjoy the green campus.
Four designated parking bays will be just outside the entrance and available for those who need to drive.
Works have now begun and are expected to be completed by the end of November, with the store opening on Monday 5 December at a 10 am grand opening.
Students, staff, and the local community are encouraged to join Marjon for the festive launch of the store.
