Northeastern University (China) The International Symposium on Electromagnetic Metallurgy and High Magnetic Field Materials Science 2022 Held at NEU

During October 30-31, the International Symposium on Electromagnetic Metallurgy & High Magnetic Field Materials Science 2022 was held. It was sponsored by NEU and co-organized by NEU’s Key Laboratory of Electromagnetic Processing of Materials of the Ministry of Education and the Electromagnetic Metallurgy and High Magnetic Field Materials Science Branch of the Chinese Society for Metals.

More than 100 people attended the symposium online and offline, including experts and scholars from Japan, France, Germany, the UK, the US and other countries, delegates from the 6th National Annual Conference on Electromagnetic Metallurgy and High Magnetic Field Materials Science (Kunming), as well as teachers and students from NEU. The symposium was chaired by Prof. Wang Engang and Associate Prof. Zhang Lin from NEU’s Key Laboratory of Electromagnetic Processing of Materials of the Ministry of Education.

Distinguished professors made academic exchanges and respectively gave reports at the symposium including Prof. C. Esling from the University of Lorraine, France; Prof. Hideyuki Yasuda from Kyoto University, Japan; Prof. Kazuhiko Iwai from the University of Hokkaido, Japan; Prof. Y. Fautrelle from Grenoble Alpes University, France; Prof. A. Thess, Director of the DLR Engineering Thermodynamics Institute, Germany; Prof. C. Karcher from the Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany; Prof. A. Potherat from Coventry University, the UK; Prof. E. Baake from University Hannover, Germany; and researcher K. Han from the US National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. More than that, 7 representatives from NEU gave presentations at the symposium.

The experts and scholars from overseas, domestic delegates attending the online conference in Kunming and NEU representatives present at the symposium had extensive and in-depth exchanges and discussions on the basic research and key technology about alloy solidification growth, fluid flow, particle movement, heat and mass transfer, solid phase transformation, heat storage, macro-segregation, induction heating and high modulus reinforcement materials under electromagnetic field or high magnetic field. They aim to promote further development of the research of electromagnetic metallurgy and high magnetic field material science.
