Nanjing University (China) NJU Leader Attends Pacific Rim Universities Forum
Leaders of Nanjing University (NJU) and University of Notre Dame (NDU) held a friendly online meeting on their cooperation and exchange in the evening of April 20 (Beijing Time).
Wang Zhenlin, a member of the standing committee of the CPC’s NJU committee and an NJU vice president, met upon invitation Michael Pippenger, a vice president of NDU, USA.
Also attending the meeting was the relevant staff of NDU’s Office of the International Student and Scholar Affairs and its Beijing Global Gateway and NJU’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges and its School of Architecture and Urban Planning.
During the meeting, Vice President Wang first extended his gratitude to Vice President Pippenger and his colleagues for their invitation.
Wang said that NJU always places promoting high-level and substantive international cooperation at the center of its work.
Recently, NJU released its development strategies for the next ten years and proposed to strengthen “mutual learning, inclusiveness and communication” with the world, in order to achieve new and all-round educational openness and development in higher positions, in broader areas, to a deeper extent and at a higher level.
During the next ten years, NJU will prioritize international cooperative education facilities, the “Studying at Nanjing University” enhancing programs, high-level joint double-degree programs with overseas universities and so on.
NJU hopes to strengthen its relationship and exchange with the University of Notre Dame and jointly advance the substantive development of the international cooperation between the two universities.
Vice President Pippenger of NDU first sent his congratulations to Nanjing University on the fruitful achievement in its internationalization development, and he expressed his special appreciation of the care by NJU and NJU’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning for the two NDU exchange students during the period of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Pippenger stressed that NDU attaches great importance to the international exchange and cooperation with Nanjing University and holds high regards for the bilateral cooperation in talent cultivation and innovative research.
NDU is looking forward to the continued deepening of cooperation and exchange on international education with Nanjing University.
The representatives of the two universities also exchanged on their respective progress and development in strategies of internationalization, disciplinary construction, talent cultivation, research, and, after all, the Nanjing University-University of Notre Dame Chinese Architecture Summer Program.
Both sides expressed their hope for further deepening their cooperation and expanding the platform for innovative international exchanges.
The University of Notre Dame was founded in 1842 and began its cooperation with Nanjing University in 2004, with regular faculty and student exchange and visits since then.
