Nigeria (Kwara State University) KWASU Lecturer Wins NCC Grant

Dr. Musa Abdulwaheed of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Kwara State University, has secured a research grant from the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC).
The grant titled, “Development of Smart Grids Interoperability and Energy-Efficiency Systems” aims to provide solutions to issues of emerging technologies and other related challenges. The grant also seeks to help build capacity in tertiary institutions and promote contributions to telecommunication industry and Nigeria’s development.
In an interactive session with university’s reporters, Dr. Musa disclosed that the grant will bring succour to the Institution in the
areas of research and capacity Building.
He further stressed that the project will be relevant and applicable in theoretical and practical sessions in some courses both at
undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
“The implementation procedure of the project will be strategically aligned to suit laboratory practical of the department. Students
will be involved in handling miniaturized sections of the project, thereby improving their hands -on experience” he stated.
The researcher noted that the grant also aims at contributing to community development by providing a smart grid electricity
network that uses digital communication technology to detect and react to local changes.
Mr. Abdulwaheed Musa is a Doctor of Engineering with specialization in telecommunications and expertise in renewable energy,
digital and 5G technology.
He is, among other things, a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)- USA, registered engineer
