Jiangnan University (China) Jiangnan University Delegation Visited Macau Universities
The delegation led by Du Guocheng, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of Jiangnan University(JU), visited the City University of Macau(City U), the University of Macau (UM) and the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) recently. Other delegation members include Heads of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs Office, School of Design and School of Artificial Intelligence and Computer ofJU.
The delegation was warmly received by Rector Liu Jun and Vice Rector Kong Fanqing ofCity Uduring their first stop. Liu Jun looked back on theuniversity’sprevious cooperation with Jiangnan University and briefed the delegation on the founding mission,runningfeatures and future development orientation of City U. Du Guocheng introduced the runningconditions, talent training and discipline features and development of Jiangnan University. The two sides exchanged views on such fields as big health, data science and innovative design and expressed wishes to carry out comprehensive cooperation in the future. During the visit, two universities signed an agreement on educational and academic exchanges and cooperation.
Vice Rector Ge Wei of UM accompanied JU delegation’s visit to the University Gallery, and introduced the history,running features, research institutes, innovation and transfer system, as well as distinct development strategy of UM. The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation on disciplines including electronic information and bio-pharmaceutical. Moreover, the delegation visited Wu Yee Sun Library and the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City of UM.
In MUST, the delegation was received by Vice President Kuang Yinghua and Heads of Faculty of Humanities and Arts, Faculty of Innovation Engineering (the School of Computer Science and Engineering), President Office and School of Graduate Studies. The two sides reviewed mutual visits of teachers and students, course exchanges and project cooperation over the past ten years, discussed cooperation intentions on AI, public art and fine arts and looked forward to deepened cooperation in talent training and scientific research in the next years. After discussion, the delegation visited the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, Faculty of Humanities and Arts andthe Metal & Wood Art Design Lab of MUST.
A delegation led by Li Yaping, Deputy Secretary General of Wuxi Municipal People’s Government, joined JU’s visit to UM and MUST and exchanged ideas on strengthening the cooperation between Wuxi and Macau universities in the fields of industry, academia and research.
Jiangnan University, together with the University of Macau,the Macau University of Science and Technology, and the City University of Macau, are part of the Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macau University Alliance initiated by the Jiangsu Provincial Education Department and the Jiangsu Provincial Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office. The visit has further built the consensus and deepened the cooperation and exchange between Jiangnan University and Macau universities. On the basis of previous cooperation, JU will expand the depth and breadth of cooperation in the future, and strengthen cooperation in all aspects including talent training, discipline construction, scientific and technological innovation and cultural heritage.
