Ghana (Ho Technical University) Promotes Internal Professor
The Governing Council of the Ho Technical University, upon recommendation of the University’s Appointment and Promotions Board, has promoted a senior lecturer in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, Dr. Christopher Mensah, to the grade of Associate Professor of Tourism Management at its 102nd Meeting. This makes Professor Christopher Mensah the second internal faculty to be promoted to the rank by the University.

Education and Career
Dr. Christopher Mensah is a Senior Lecturer in Tourism Management and the current Acting Dean of Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology from September 1, 2019 till date. He is also a member of the Finance Committee of the Governing Council of Ho Technical University. Prior to his current position, he served as Head of Department for the Hospitality and Tourism Management from 2015 to 2018. Dr. Mensah also served as Coordinator of a NUFFIC/NICHE funded project on Innovation for Food Security (INNOFOOD) between 2016 and 2019. He was also the Examinations Officer for the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (2013-2015).
Dr. Mensah received a Ph.D. degree in Tourism from the University of Cape Coast in September, 2015, a Master of Philosophy in Tourism from the University of Cape Coast (September, 2007) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Tourism from the University of Cape Coast in August, 1999. After eight years of working in a non-governmental organisation as Regional Conservation Programmes Coordinator and Programme Manager.
Dr. Mensah has over a decade of teaching experience in Ho Technical University. He started his teaching career in Ho Polytechnic in April, 2008 as an Instructor and was subsequently promoted to the rank of Lecturer in July, 2008. In June, 2013, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer.
Courses taught include Research Methods, Travel and Tour Operations, Travel Geography, Tourist Psychology, Hospitality and Tourism Marketing, Research Design and Implementation. He has supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate project works and theses on diverse topical issues. Dr. Mensah also serves as a supervisor for a number of Masters and Doctoral candidates.

Dr. Christopher Mensah has attended and presented papers in a number of academic conferences and has over 25 publications to his credit, made up of Journal Articles, Conference Proceedings and Encyclopedia entry. His research works have been published in the Journal of Quality Assurance in Hospitality and Tourism; Journal of Foodservice Business; Journal of Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Education; Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education; Journal of Human Resources in Hospitality and Tourism; International Journal of Tourism Administration; Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Insights; Tourism, Culture & Communication; Journal of Culinary Science & Technology; Journal of Teaching in Travel & Tourism; Journal of Academic Ethics; International Journal of Educational Management; and Applied Research in Higher Education. His research interests are in the field of: Ecotourism Impact Studies; Sexual Harassment in Hospitality; Tourism; Customer Satisfaction; Community-based Natural Resources Management; Academic Dishonesty; Festivals and Trade Fairs; and Hospitality Education.
Professional Membership
Dr. Mensah is currently a member of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (ICHRIE) and the Institute of Hospitality, Ghana.
