Aid Program for Hospitals

RWTH Aachen University and Uniklinik RWTH Aachen are helping the people in war-torn Ukraine. The donations will be used to provide local hospitals with urgently needed medicines, bandages, and other medical supplies. Several trucks have already traveled to Ukraine in the past few weeks to supply the local medical staff with the essentials.

Pich, a native of Ukraine and professor at the Institute of Technical and Macromolecular Chemistry at RWTH Aachen University and DWI-Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials, is the initiator of the aid campaign. He still has family and friends in the country, many of whom work as doctors in Lviv and Kyiv, so he knows what is needed. Above all, bandages, painkillers, and narcotics for operations and serious injuries are urgently needed. The drugstore of Uniklinik RWTH Aachen uses these funds to procure what is urgently needed in the Ukrainian hospitals.

By this point, the campaign team has established a stable logistics chain. The supplies are reloaded into smaller vans at the Polish-Ukrainian border to protect them from attacks, which are often carried out on larger convoys. With the help of Professor Pich and his network, they will be taken right to the hospitals in Ukraine where they are needed to help care for the victims of the war.
