Denmark (Design School Kolding) Poetic, dreamy craftsmanship

For the 9th year in a row, Danish trend magazines BO BEDRE, Bolig Magasinet and Scandinavian Living are joining forces to celebrate the absolute best in Danish design when they organise and host the Design Awards 2022. Among the nominees is Iben Høj, designer, teacher and workshop manager at Designskolen Kolding, who is nominated in the category Creative of the Year.

The motivation states:

– Iben Høj has repeatedly blown us away with her combination of craftsmanship and the ability to challenge our way of looking at the world. Most recently, it is the project Sh(r)ine from this year’s Mindcraft exhibition, which has taken us by storm. Sh(r)ine is a series of containers knitted from a very thin thread in a fine transparent changing textile. As small microcosms in themselves that lead the mind to sea creatures and exploding stars, she challenges our perception of what a container is and can be with her poetic, dreamy craftsmanship  – and engages both our senses and our thoughts.

The magazine editors have selected the nominees, while a panel of judges selects the winners, who will be celebrated at an award ceremony on 7 November.
