Ghana (Central University) Central University Cooperated with Sanji Nursing Service Company to Conduct Breast Cancer Screening Free of Charge in ACCRA’s AGBOGBLOSHIE Market.

The month of October is the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In October each year, people all over the world show their support for people living with breast cancer by joining various campaigns to raise the awareness about the disease through education, and screening.

On Thursday October 20th 2022, Central University joined forces with Sangy Health Services, a leading health consortium in Accra to throw their weight behind this year’s ‘Pink Month’ Campaign by organizing a free breast screening exercise for the women at the Agbogbloshie market in Accra.

The Acting Director of the Centre for Distance and Professional Education (CDPE) at Central University, Harold Wilson said the breast screening exercise was part of institution’s way of giving back to society through Corporate Social Responsibility. He reemphasized the focus of the exercise was to sensitize the general public and the market women in particular about the dangers of the disease and the need for them to pay critical attention to their breast health.

Bernice Nartey, a level 400 Physician Assistantship student of the university, who also participated in as a lead consultant in the event further stressed on the need for the market women to take breast cancer issues seriously and take advantage of the free event to have their breasts screened for cancer.

The market women who benefitted from the free health screening exercise jointly organized by Central University and Sangy Health Services used the occasion to encourage other market women to undergo regular checks in order to know their status and to practice preventive measures to curb the disease.Company
