Addis Ababa Science and Technology University and IIT ROORKEE Sign Partnership Agreement
Addis Ababa Science and Technology University has signed a partnership agreement with IIT ROORKEE.
During the commencement of the ceremony, Prof.M. Parida deputy director of IIT ROORKEE briefly introduced the typical identities of and capacities of the Indian Institute of Technology–Roorkee and the partnership areas where they should prefer to jointly cooperate.
On the other hand, Dr. Dereje Engida, the president of Addis Ababa Science and Technology University highlighted the background, vision, and focus areas of the university. He also expressed his appreciation to the team of IIT ROORKEE for being here to sign an agreement with AASTU and Dr. Terefe Getachew for the mediation he has done in bringing the IIT ROORKEE team to AASTU.
According to the memorandum of understanding, the two sides agreed to promote exchanges of scholars and scientific research activities such as exchange of resources; support for research; development and implementation of joint teaching and research programs; cooperation in instructing graduate students, especially in the fields of biotechnology, materials science, Nanotechnology, architecture, Science, Engineering, Management, and Social Sciences, and their mutual interest in engaging themselves in academic cooperation.
They also agreed to co-organize scientific seminars and specialized courses to promote science as well as support each other in international cooperation activities.
IIT ROORKEE was established as the first college of Engineering in the British Empire and was previously known as Thomason College of Engineering and the University of Roorkee.
