The University of Hafr Al Batin was established by Royal Decree No. (20937) dated 02/06/1435 AH, to complement the role of other Saudi universities in supporting the educational process and contributing to the realization of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious development plans.
The university carries an academic legacy inherited from two esteemed institutions: the University of Dammam, through its Colleges of Education for Women in Hafr Al Batin, Al-Nairiyah, Qaryat Al-Ulya, and Al-Khafji, all of which were previously under its supervision; and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, through its Community College and the university colleges for men, which operated under the main campus in Dhahran until the official announcement of the university’s establishment.
