The university was established by Royal Decree No. 11 on 25/3/1381 AH and was ratified by Royal Decree No. 21 on 16/4/1381 AH with the approval of the Supreme Advisory Council of the University. Studies at the University began on Sunday, 2nd of Jumada Al-Akhira in the same year.
