Biography
Seema is a Professor of Economics, Department of Commerce, University of Delhi. She has contributed to the field of academics through her teaching, research, training, and consultancy work. As a Professor of Economics, she has devoted herself to writing 2 books, approximately 50 research papers and articles that have been published in reputed national and international journals and books. She has fulfilled her teaching responsibility diligently: in 2018, she was conferred with the ‘Shreshtha award’ i.e. Distinguished Teachers Award. Seema has sought to explore and excel at all research assignments she undertook. She was the first Sir Ratan Tata Senior Fellow (2007-08) at the Institute of Economic Growth, and ICCR’s First Tagore Chair Professor to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2011-12. The Asian Productivity Organization acknowledged her as a ‘National Expert’ for its projects twice, in 2015-16 and 2019-20. She has been an invited speaker at national and international level on her area of expertise. Moreover, her book – ‘The Service Sector: An Exploration of the Indian Experience’- was published and released by the World Association for Sustainable Development, U.K. in its international conference at Montreal in 2014, where she also won ‘Best Paper of the Session’ award. She was nominated for the ‘Outstanding Reviewers Awards 2013’ for World Journal of Entrepreneurship, Management and Sustainable Development, where she has been serving on the editorial advisory board. Seema conducted six training programmes for scientists, public sector executives and senior bureaucrats during her deputation to the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi from 2005-07. She has advised the government and chambers of commerce as a member of their expert committees.
