Biography
Ronald McQuaid is Professor of Work and Employment at the University of Stirling. He has a Bachelors degree from Lancaster University, an MSc(Econ) from London School of Economics and a doctorate from Harvard University. He was formerly the Director of the Employment Research Institute. His research interests include employment and employability, the effects of ageing populations on labour markets, entrepreneurship, partnership-working and economic development. He has written over 100 academic papers on these issues. He has carried out research and policy studies for many regional, national and supra-national bodies such as the European Commission, UK, Scottish and Northern Ireland governments, UK Commission for Employment and Skills, the British Council, Asia Development Bank, Joseph Rowntree Foundation and various other agencies and employers. Professor McQuaid is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, Fellow of the Higher Education and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce.
