Biography
Professor Osden Jokonya is a researcher at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in South Africa. With a career spanning over two decades in academia and the IT industry, Jokonya has established himself as a researcher in emerging technologies adoption and sustainable digital transformation. Prof. Jokonya’s current research focuses on emerging technologies (Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, AI, IoT, Robotics, Fintech, Drones, Digital Twins, Metaverse, and Blockchain) adoption in the sustainable digital transformation of the food system. Prof. Jokonya’s current research focuses mainly on five dimensions of the SDGs, namely ending poverty (SDG1), zero hunger (SDG2), industry innovation and infrastructure (SDG9), sustainable consumption and production (SDG12), and climate action solutions (SDG13). His research contributions extend beyond publications to community engagement, industry collaboration, and professional bodies such as the Association for Information Systems (AIS). Professor Jokonya has participated in several international collaborations and conferences across continents.
