Biography

Prof Fatemeh Rabiee is a Professor of Public Health Promotion within the Faculty of Health, Birmingham City University. She has experience of working in the UK, Netherlands and in Iran as a practitioner, manager and as an academic in the field of Public Health Promotion. In addition, she has extensive experience of supervising postgraduate students and consultancy in the broad area of Public Health in the Eastern Mediterranean region, & EU countries. Prof Fatemeh Rabiee is an academic and practitioner in Public Health Nutrition and Health Promotion. She has extensive experience of teaching and initiating, managing and implementing a number of applied research and evaluation projects in the broad area of public health and social care in the UK, Iran and the Netherlands, using a range of quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods. She also works with various non-government organisations in the UK. Prof  Fatemeh Rabiee has initiated, managed and implemented a number of applied research projects in the broad area of public health and social care. Her main research interests are health and social policy, health inequalities, heart disease prevention programme, mental health promotion, public health nutrition and evaluation of health & social care projects. Prof. Fatemeh's commitment to promoting health and wellbeing goes beyond her academic exercise; she is a commitment to capacity building and widening participation and established a number of community organisations. Prof. Fatemeh has been a champion in the area of environmental, cultural, health and social sustainability and through her research, advocacy and leadership skills has contributed to implementing a number of applied research and health policy programmes nationally and internationally and in building social capital & social justice amongst diverse groups of population in West Midlands, UK. Prof. Fatemeh served as the chair of Birmingham Relate (2000-2004) & a member of Trustee for this organisation over the last 2 decades, as well as a member of Lord Chancellor Advisory Group for Justice on Peace over 8 years and as the Secretary of the International and Public Health Nutrition group of the Nutrition Society during July 2000 – 2003. She is frequently invited as a chair, facilitator and keynote speaker at international conferences.
