Biography
Amel is currently the Deputy Director, Center for Peace & Development Studies, University of Kordofan. She led gender and peace-building initiatives for over 20 years. Served as President of the Sudanese Women's Voice Organization (Her Voice) since 2018.
She published scientific papers on gender, peace, and development; led educational programs to prevent school dropout, particularly for girls; supervised research on peace and gender, collaborating with Coventry University (UK); trained over 1,500 university students in peace and conflict resolution; and established partnerships for peacebuilding and women’s empowerment.
Amel exceptional leadership achievements include but not limited to: advocated for women’s leadership in post-war Sudan; established media and academic initiatives to promote peace; and built strong national and international partnerships.
