Prof. Hanan Malkawi (Yarmouk University) Jordan

Prof. Hanan Issa Malkawi, has earned her bachelor degree in Biological Sciences at Yarmouk University, her M.Sc in Bacteriology & Public and then PhD degree in Microbiology & Molecular Biology both at Washington State University-USA. She is currently: Professor at the department of Biological Sciences, Chair of the Academic committee & Member of the Board of Directors for the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund/Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research/Jordan. She has been involved in research lines in biotechnology, nanotechnology and their applications in environment, health, agriculture, microbiology, food security industry,  and studying the possibility of life in outer space. She managed to get several funded grant projects in the field of her research lines and several initiatives in science engagement, higher education, and community service. Prof. Malkawi is known for her devoted efforts in helping and inspiring young scientists and entrepreneurs, specially women, to pursue their studies and research and build a career by assisting them with advice, mentorship, and providing them with guidance and feedback and engaging them with society. She has several patents and published papers in peer reviewed international scientific journals.  She has been invited as keynote speaker in numerous International Congresses and Forums. She received several awards and is an active member in several national and international committees & organizations. She has held several administrative positions: Vice President for Research & International Relations, Dean of Scientific Research & Graduate Studies at Yarmouk University, Director of UNESCO Chair for Desert Studies, Vice President for Science Engagement at Royal Scientific Society-Jordan. Dean for Research & Doctoral studies at “Hamdan Bin Mohammad Smart University”, Dubai-UAE.
