Biography
PROF. MARGARET JESANG HUTCHINSON holds a PhD from the University of Guelph, Canada, MSc and BSc from the University of Nairobi with over 40 years of experience in Agricultural research, extension, Innovation and Technology transfer. Prof. Hutchinson is a Full Professor of Horticulture and currently the Acting Associate Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Enterprise) and Immediate Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance, Planning and Development) at the University of Nairobi. Prof. Hutchinson has held several administrative positions at the University over the years. Prof. also teaches and conducts research and outreach programs in Horticulture and Agriculture related as well as Gender Courses and hold several other positions.
Nationally and Internationally, Prof. Hutchinson consults with many organizations ranging from Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Security, Gender Mainstreaming in Agriculture, Leadership, Governance and Transformation. Prof. Hutchinson is also a member of several professional bodies such as the International Society of Horticultural Science, African Crop Science Society, Horticultural Association of Kenya, Kenya Professional Association of Women in Agriculture and Environment, the Agricultural Society of Kenya and Institute of Directors. She is a highly motivated, self-driven, results-focused person who is passionate about economic, social, spiritual and societal transformation of individual persons, Country and the African Continent.
